What We Do: At The Poetry Salon, we support you in every step of your writing journey—from learning basic techniques to reaching creative breakthroughs. Whether you're just learning your craft or publishing your third book, we’re here to help you develop your most authentic voice, innovate and grow. More importantly, we’re here to help you have fun and make friends with fellow artists who appreciate you and your work.
Who We Are: Poets who attend our workshops have been nominated for Best of the Net, Pushcarts, and other awards. They have had work published in publications such as Poet Lore, Prairie Schooner, Rust + Moth, and even been featured in The Best Poets of the Year edited by David Lehman. Other poets who write with us pursue the art for love of the art itself. Both “public” and “private” writers are welcome here.
How It Works
This is a space where you can be your true self and find the support you need to thrive. We offer two options for enrollment, The Daily Poet, and The Sunday Poet. The Daily Poet is for those who want and are able to write several days a week, and The Sunday Poet is for those who may only be able to join us once in a while. When you register for either, you get access to a link that will let you in to all of the workshops we offer. You come to the ones that fit your schedule. No need to apologize if you miss a session. No need to tell anyone in advance if you want to attend any particular session. Think of it like a gym-membership for your muse.
Who We Want to Join Us
If you’ve ever felt out of place or unsure where you fit in, welcome home. At The Poetry Salon, we celebrate authenticity, innovation and encouragement—no matter how strange or uncertain you feel. The only thing we ask is that you be interested in growing as an artist, and willing to encourage and support other artists who are learning and growing too.
Tresha Haefner’s Poetry Salon is the answer to this poet’s prayers. Tresha’s perceptive ear and generous heart have shown me new ways to create and express myself as a poet, not to mention the invaluable help she’s given me in editing my work for publication.

I loved to have at last taken classes with The Poetry Salon. I was blown away by the brilliance and creativity of the Salon facilitators. They are wonderful at what they do, and their generous support and wonderful suggestions made a big difference in how I viewed and wrote. I heartily recommend The Poetry Salon to all writers.

The Poetry Salon has made me aware of my strengths and weaknesses, helping me become more reflective of my
Working at The Poetry Salon has really helped me step out of that fear-based mentality that kept me from being a serious writer.
- Julia Campbell
Working with Tresha has been fabulous. I love the freedom of bringing my unfinished work, that work I believe is not very good, that I can't fix and turning it into a polished gem. Since working with Tresha in her Poetry Salon, I've had several pieces published and I'm refining more for submission. Tresha has a gift of seeing the hidden genius of a writer and his or her work. Thanks Tresha!!!

Enjoyed the poetry pod! Worthy discussions on editing, poetic turns, and poem structures – challenging exercises and weekly discussions of individual poems. Tresha’s insights and notes are invaluable!
- Marcus Ellman
I discovered the Poetry Salon in Fall 2019. I was a new poetry student and very unsure of myself and my work. Under their guidance and expertise, I learned about the world and craft of poetry, which helped me hone my talents and find my voice as a poet. Less than a year after I pursued my writing passion, I was selected by Brooklyn Poets as their Poet of the Week and my first poem “Shunned” was published in October 2020. I had workshopped this piece with Poetry Salon, and everyone had believed in my work, encouraging me to submit. Other journals have reached out and asked me to submit to their journals after reading my published work. I’m very grateful to the teachers at the Poetry Salon and continue to take classes because they provide me with an inspiring and challenging poetry community to generate new work and revise for publication. The classes are affordable, and they have been generous with scholarships to help dedicated poets pursue their love and passion. In addition, I’ve met so many wonderful people and have developed friendships with diverse writers from all walks of life. I highly recommend any poet to join the Poetry Salon through its teaching platforms and learn from talented and successfully published teachers in order to take your writing to deeper and new aspects.

I am LOVING my time at TPS. Tresha and her gang keep me motivated as well as smiling. I have always felt welcome to write about whatever and never feel intimidated by the more experienced poets. What a wonderful environment to learn.

What Makes Us Different
Founded by Tresha Faye Haefner, an expert in humanistic psychology and creativity, The Poetry Salon offers more than just craft classes and editing workshops—we nurture your personal voice, encourage you to experiment and innovate your style, and grow into your full, most authentic artist-self.
Here’s What We Help You Do:
Overcome Perfectionism & Self-Doubt: Break free from the barriers that hold you back and embrace your creative potential.
Feel Empowered to Find Your Most Unique, Authentic Voice: Whether you're a beginner or experienced poet, we help you recognize your most unique voice, even if it’s not what editors expect.
Learn from Other Authentic Voices: Join a community where you can grow, take risks, and share your work without fear or judgment. Here you can learn from others who are being their authentic selves too.
Learn about Traditional and Experimental Writig Techniques Too: We do all this while also helping artists understand basic craft techniques and how to use them in their own way. This includes specialty workshops that range from reviewing the basic tools of writing to experimenting with surrealist practices and fun new editing “games.”
Experience a space where you can flourish as an artist and member of the writing community
